How numbers on this site are sourced, verified, corrected and disclosed. Data as of 2026-10-18.

Sourcing

Every rate, incentive and specification on this site comes from a named public source — utility rate sheets, state program pages, the U.S. Energy Information Administration, or manufacturer datasheets. Sources are listed with an as-of date on the data and method page. Where a value could not be confirmed on the issuer's own page, the state pack is marked verify pending and the limitation is stated on the page rather than hidden in a footnote.

Verification levels

BadgeMeaning
VerifiedOfficial rate sheet or program page checked line by line against the value used.
SourcedOfficial or major source captured; the all-in figure awaits confirmation on the issuer's page.
Verify pendingResearch-level estimate. Never presented as launch data; flagged wherever it is used.

AI assistance

Parts of this site's prose are drafted with the assistance of a large language model and then edited and fact-checked by a human. AI drafting is used for structure and plain-language explanation — never for rates, policy status, incentive values or specifications, which are transcribed from the sources named above and re-checked before publication. The calculation core is deterministic JavaScript; no model generates numbers at runtime.

Corrections

If a value on this site is wrong, it gets fixed at the source file and the page is rebuilt — there is no manual patch layer. When a correction changes a published result, the change is noted with the date. If you spot an error, email support@batterypayback.net with the page and the value in question.

Update cadence

Utility rates and incentive programs are re-checked on a quarterly cycle and whenever a program announces a change. The as-of date on every page reflects the earliest source date in that page's data, so a stale page cannot silently claim freshness.

Independence

This site does not sell installation services and does not accept payment for placement in the comparison table. If that changes, the partnerships page will say so explicitly, and any compensated relationship will be disclosed on the pages where it applies. Outbound links to utilities, programs and manufacturers are provided for verification; they are not endorsements.

What this site is not

Not financial, tax, or installation advice. Not a quote. Not a forecast of your bill. The calculator exists to make one narrow question answerable — at today's published rates and stated assumptions, what does this battery do to this bill — and to make every assumption behind that answer visible.
